This could definitely be a bad thing, but Makenna is the perfect example of how kids quickly pick up on what they watch on tv.  It’s probably a sign that I need to cut the cord for a while, but here are some of Makenna’s favorite phrases lately:

“Aw, pickles!”  (Higglytown Heroes)

“I cannot believe it!”  (Little Einsteins)

“Cowabunga!” (I have no idea, but thank God it’s not Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

“Bummer dude! (prounced “Fumma dude!)”  (Her aunt Sarah, haha)

It’s so funny to hear these things come out of her little 2 year old mouth.

Girl vs. Boy

February 19, 2008

My dad recently returned from Africa, and he brought Makenna 2 t-shirts back as a souvenir.  One is red and one is pink.  This morning we were getting dressed and as usual, she asked to wear her “Af-i-ca” shirt.  I asked her which one she wanted and she chose the red.  After getting her completely dressed, she (of course) changed her mind and wanted her pink one.  We argued, but I gave in.  We changed the shirt and when she was dressed, she looked down at her pink shirt and said, “Now I’m a girl” with a huge smile.

 Where does she come up with this stuff?  🙂

Rainy Sunday Night

February 18, 2008

Tonight we were sitting at the dinner table, having pizza.  Out of the blue Makenna looked at me and said, “Your name is Mom Rylie Prip”  (For those of you that don’t know, her middle name is Rylie, and she thinks everyone’s name is Fill-in-the-Blank Rylie Prip, but the funnier part was that she called me Mom instead of Mommy–don’t you love how I explain these things to you?).  After we finished laughing, she lifted her piece of pizza up to Mark’s and said, “Cheers!”

Here’s the latest video of her on the treadmill.  We can’t help it, she’s addicted!  Yes, we know this was an accident waiting to happen (try not to panic Mom, she’s fine):

I seriously need to get some videos where she’s not in her jammies with bedhead.  🙂

Today’s Talks…

February 14, 2008

Makenna and I were sitting at the table having lunch today.  Her new game is “Name That Tune”, where I will hum a song and she guesses which song it is (obviously, haha).  We were playing this while we ate, and I was humming “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”  Within a few notes she had it, and she yelled, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!”

 “You got it, babe!” I said.

 She paused and thought for a second, then she said, “That’s a great song.”

~~~~~~~~~~~
I was looking in her mouth today at her last two molars that are coming in.  I said, “Babe, once these teeth come in you’ll have ALL of your teeth!”
She said, “All my teeth?!  No way Jose!!”
Mark and I have always dreamed of having lots of kids so that we could make them our slaves, putting them to work around the house and getting things for us when we don’t feel like getting up.  I think we’re JUST about there…
I seriously can’t get this child to eat because she wants to clean the table so badly!  She’ll even climb up on it and try to clean the whole thing!  I suppose there are worse things kids can do at the table, but still….  🙂
Potty Time!
February 9, 2008
WELL, after 5 days of intense potty training, I am BEYOND thrilled to say that Makenna is in big-girl panties all day with no accidents!  She’s even going #2 in the potty already!  I know, it was nice of me to share that with you all, but you mommies know that’s a big deal!  😉  She has taken to it like a pro, proving me wrong as always for dreading things like this so much.  I’m not naive enough to think we’re totally in the clear, but I couldn’t have asked for a better start.  I’ve pretty much been on my knees thanking God every day for how well it has gone so far, haha….
Here’s a video of Makenna’s favorite new workout:
And finally, in cute conversation news:
We were reading the story of Jesus and the little children in her Bible this morning, and when we were finished Makenna said, “Kenna run around with Jesus!”
I said, “You want to run around with Jesus, baby?”
She said, “No, I’s just kidding.”
